In 1979 52 American diplomats and citizens were taken hostage at the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran and held for 444 days. An act President Jimmy Carter called “terrorism and anarchy” without precedent in modern times that many consider the beginning of Islamic terrorism.

Not true. In 661 the first Islamic fundamentalist rebel group which had declared jihad against peace loving moderate Muslims, assassinated Ali, the fourth Caliph and the cousin of the Prophet Muhammad. Islam named them “Kharijites”, meaning “those who left” [departed from the mainstream faith].

So began the 1,400-year period of numerous episodes of Muslim slavery, extremism & terrorism, the largest victim of which has been, by far, Islam.

“This leather collar served to protect the neck against cutlass slashes and to hold the head erect in proper military bearing. Sailors serving aboard ship with Marines came to call them ‘leathernecks’

National Museum of the Marine Corps

From the Halls of Montezuma

To the shores of Tripoli;

We fight our country’s battles

In the air, on land, and sea;

First to fight for right and freedom

And to keep our honor clean;

We are proud to claim the title

Of United States Marine.

This of course is the first stanza of the oldest song in the repertoire of the United States Armed Forces, the official hymn of the United States Marine Corps.

The reference to Tripoli has to do with battles against the Barbary pirates who operated out of Libya and other North African ports to capture Christian slaves for the Ottoman Empire and general Muslim slave market. They attacked as far away as Iceland and South America and captured an estimated 800,000 to 1.25 million men, women, and children to become Muslim slaves.

In March 1785, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to London to negotiate with Tripoli’s envoy, Ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman. When they enquired “concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury”, the ambassador replied:

It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise.

Islamic Extremist Terrorism; is not a Spade a Spade?

So what do we call these random groups of people who do random acts of violence against random citizens? Options: Boko Haram, ISIS, Barbary Pirates, Al Qaeda, Taliban, perhaps Kharijites?

For the current administration to call them anything but what they are is IRRATIO/NAL on several levels. It is a divaricating argument because we, the electorate, all know what they are. To continually insist that we hoi polloi must not adopt the false syllogism that because some Muslims are violent killers, we must not be at war with all Muslims, is laughable. We love Dr. Oz and Shaquille O’Neal

When African American gang bangers in Chicago kill each other in record numbers every week, do we grab our torches and pitch forks and go after Michael Jordan and Oprah who are African Americans from Chicago?

The current administration would have us believe the terrorists want to present the conflict as a religious war between the West and the Muslim world. The RATIO/NAL Observer believes it is evidentiary that these extreme fundamentalists are at with war with everyone who does not agree with them.
